Camp Jonathan, our one-week day camp for bereaved children.

We are excited to be able to offer this important program to the community for the 15th year.

img_1725.jpgThe purpose of Camp Jonathan is to help children ages 6 through 12 who have suffered the death of a significant person in their lives. During the past 15 years Camp Jonathan has helped approximately 350 children learn to express their grief in a safe environment. Using the creative arts as a therapeutic mode combined with small group support and administered by professional pediatric grief counselors, Camp Jonathan is a unique resource for grieving children.

Camp will take place this year at St. John’s Episcopal Church in New Milford from Monday August 9 through Friday August 13. Hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and on Friday from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. when the week culminates in a “Memory Supper” during which the children and their families remember their loved ones by bringing photographs and mementos and by cooking some of their loved ones’ favorite foods to share with all.
