Your doctor can call and order services for you, or if you are being discharged from the hospital the discharge planner will ask you which home service agency you would prefer. Be sure to specifically request the New Milford VNA. In all other cases, you may call us at 860 354-2216, or you can email us at NewMilfordVNA.org.

 Will you accept my insurance?
The New Milford Visiting Nurse Association is participating provider of most major insurance carriers and organizations. A sliding scale for essential services is available to assist those patients with financial need.

What does it mean to be homebound?
Homebound means that you have a normal inability to leave your home, or that it takes a considerable and taxing effort to leave home. Absences from the home must be infrequent or for a very short period of time, for example leaving your home for medical care. Time away from home should not last longer than one to two hours or occur more often than one to two times per week, such as attending a place of worship once a week. In general, you are homebound if you have an illness or injury, which restricts your ability to leave home unless you have help. Examples would be if you need a wheelchair, special transportation or help from another person to leave your home.

How soon will services start after requesting a visit?
Services are usually started within 24 hours of patient referral.

What should be expected during the first visit?
Our professional healthcare staff conducts complete patient assessments and work together with the patient's family and physician to develop a comprehensive health care plan for each patient. Regular meetings are held to review and update care plans.

Will the professional health care staff be supervised?
Staff is supervised through direct observation, review of patient records, and feedback from clients and family members.

How long will I received services for?
The type and length of service will be determined on your medical needs and what your insurance coverage will allow.

Does the agency perform background checks on its employees?
